Good for you for getting out. I would imagine 30's and sleet would be outside a Texan's comfort zone.
Yeah, it was a kind of "growth experience".
Rather than " growth experience," I like to refer to such as "expanding the envelope," but the only difference is the perspective.
Layers are they key to happiness on a ride like that. Or so Colorado has taught me. Now if the blasted ice would just get off the streets . . .
